AirPods 3 mass production started, release later this year

At least seven manufacturers have now started mass production of the AirPods 3. This makes a release this year inevitable.

That states DigiTimes, a well-known name when it comes to Apple rumors. The publication received information from Semco, LG Innotek, Kinsus, Unimicron, Nan Ya, Zhen Ding and AT&S about the start of production of parts for a range of new Apple products. From the iPhone 13 to the Apple Watch Series 7, but also specific AirPods parts.

The new generation AirPods would take over the design of the AirPods Pro, have shorter stems and stay in your ear better. This would also benefit the sound quality, although active noise cancellation (or noise canceling) remains a function that is reserved exclusively for the Pro models. It will be the first upgrade for the AirPods since March 2019.

This makes the AirPods 3 seem to be getting closer, although it remains difficult to estimate when the new wireless earbuds will appear exactly. At the beginning of this year, there were rumors that Apple would present the caps in March, or during WWDC 2021. In the past, Apple has simply presented new AirPods with a press release, so that the unveiling can in theory happen at any time.

Although the new regular AirPods can appear any moment, the new AirPods Pro seem to be even further away from us. The latest rumors state that Apple is aiming for a release in 2022, where the second generation should distinguish itself with special fitness functions.
