Xiaomi Mi 8 receives an update with the MIUI 12.5 extension

Company Xiaomi only recently upgraded to the superstructure MIUI 12.5 smartphones Redmi Note 8 Pro a POCO F2 Pro. According to the portal GizmoChina is another three – year – old model Xiaomi Mi 8.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 smartphone is a flagship model from 2018 and came on the market with the Android 8.1 Oreo system and the MIUI 9 superstructure. Since then, it has received two system updates, including Android 10 and three MIUI superstructure improvements. The latest is MIUI version 12.5. Unfortunately, it still runs on the older Android 10 system.

The update is numbered V12.5.1.0.QEACNXM and currently available in China. The manufacturer refers to it as a stable beta version, which probably means that the system will only offer it to users involved in beta testing. However, the global and Russian markets should receive it in a stable version for everyone in the coming days.

The update is available as an OTA update, so the system should notify you automatically when it is available. You can also verify it manually in Android settings. For safety, you should make sure that your smartphone battery is at least 70% charged before you install it.

How’s Xiaomi’s competition?

Samsung, the South Korean company, is currently the most active in the updates. Over the last month, it has updated the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S20 FE 5G and Galaxy A52 5G smartphones. The Honor 9x and 9X Pro smartphones recently received a May security update. Motorola recently introduced Android 11 for the Motorola moto g 5G plus and Motorola razr 5G models.
