Google Photos is getting a Memories feed on the front page

Google makes a lot of cool stuff, but one of our favorites is Google Photos. Partly thanks to the addition of great inventions such as the Magic Eraser and the ability to sharpen old photos, it is a great app, besides that it of course saves your photos and sometimes provides them with a special effect. Now something new is coming to the app, which is a new Reminders feed on the front page.

Memories in Google Photos

When you open Google Photos now, you’ll see collages, stylized photos, photos taken in a specific place, and your feed of all your photos. However, that seems to be changing, because Google wants to show you some more beautiful memories. It’s working on a new slider above the navigation bar where all the photos and Memories are located (in the Photos tab, or really just the home page when you open the app). If you go to Memories, you will see a feed of photos from certain events in the form of collages in different shapes.

If you click on it, you get the familiar Stories-like setup where you can tap through the memories. Also nice: you can give the memories names by pressing them longer or tapping the edit button that appears at the top right. This way you can relive your memories in a better way, but also organize the memories.

Who knows, it might be a good starting point to send those people a message again.

Google News writes that it is still an experiment, and is therefore only available to a handful of people. Hopefully it will soon reach the rest of the world.
