“Secret of the Source” is a quest that you do not receive directly from a quest giver. Instead you have to Look for a note in the Frozen Expanse region on the Kylisk Plateau north of the city of Kyovashadwhich has an enigmatic message in store for you: “A haven of warmth in a wintry dance, nature will show mercy to the patient.“

When you take the note, you will also be presented with the location of the water source on the map. However, if you go there, you will not be able to interact with it, nor will you find any other object that will help you. The reason for this is as simple as it is misleading. Because you have to perform an emote right in front of the sourceto complete the quest.

On the PC you open your emotes with the E key, on the console with the directional pad. Wanted is the emote “Waiting”, which is not in the selection wheel by default. So you have to add it to the wheel first. To do this, select “Customize” and find the wait emote in the list. Sets a position for this in the selection wheel, then executes the emote before the source.

A nearby buried chest will spawn, which will spit out some resources like Iron Chunks or Bitingberries. On top of that, you’ll get some gold and 20 reputation for the region. This completes the “Secret of the Source” quest.
