Firefox 115 is available: the list of new features (latest version for Windows 7 and 8)
Mozilla now offers the stable version of Firefox 115 for download. There are a few new features to the program, just as there is the end of support for Windows 7 and 8.
Windows 7 and 8 users will therefore remain on Firefox 115, they will not be entitled to the following versions. However, they will still be able to benefit from security updates since it is an Extended Support Release (ESR). Nothing changes if you have Windows 10 or 11, the classic updates will be available.
Besides Windows 7 and 8, the new version of Firefox drops support for macOS Sierra 10.12, macOS High Sierra 10.13, and macOS Mojave 10.14. Again, users with these versions of Apple’s operating systems will have to make do with security updates. You need at least macOS Catalina 10.15 to continue to have the classic browser updates.
As far as the new features are concerned, Mozilla announces that it is now possible to import payment methods saved in Chrome/Chromium-based browsers into Firefox. There’s also hardware video decoding enabled for Intel GPUs on Linux, close buttons for the tab manager drop-down menu, and a new interface for transferring data from another browser. Finally, users whose platform does not support H.264 video decoding can now fall back on Cisco’s OpenH264 plugin for playback.
Firefox 115 is available for download on the Mozilla website.
