AI tool Midjourney blocks users for generating images of cheating politicians

It should be proof that pictures can no longer be trusted in general. Twitter user Justin Brown wanted to show how easy it is to create fake images of politicians cheating on their spouses. And indeed, he managed to get some very believable images. The people behind the Midjourney AI tool didn’t like that at all.

“I got banned from Midjourney AI for creating realistic images of politicians cheating on their wives for a series called ‘AI Will Revolutionize the Extortion Industry,'” Brown wrote in a Twitter thread. There he showed the images and pointed out that “when used with intelligence and intent, AI can be a weapon”.

Politicians cheating on the AI ​​include current President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

“After the series garnered some attention on Reddit, it was removed by the moderators and Midjourney was banned almost immediately,” Brown tells PetaPixels. “I’ve faced bans in the past – for lewd words or controversial figures – but I’ve never received a ban.”

It can be assumed that the ban is directly related to the fact that Brown posted the series on Reddit. “I was not given a direct reason for the ban by Midjourney,” he explains, “but the timing of the Reddit publication and the ban are directly correlated.”

That would be understandable and even welcome, as Brown admits he’s seen some of his images misused. “I have the pictures [in der Fotoserie] never represented as real,” Brown told PetaPixel. “But I know some of these images have been taken out of context and shared by others, so it wouldn’t surprise me if there are people who believe they’re real.”
