9 questions for the founder of “The Lion’s Den”
In this questionnaire we ask the founders and participants of the Vox show “The Lion’s Den” questions about their products and experiences on the show. This time: Ramtin Randjbar-Moshtaghin, the founder of Zebrastic.
Zebrastic is a sherbet, which in principle does not require permanent cooling. Because the ice cream can be frozen at the right time – without further preparation. As so-called squeeze ice, you can enjoy the zebrastic ice without making a mess.
With his pitch, Zebrastic founder Ramtin Randjbar-Moshtaghin was able to inspire enthusiasm in the VOX start-up show “Die Höhle der Löwen”. He secured a deal with his dream investor Ralf Dümmel.

Zebrastic: This is the ice cream from “The Lion’s Den”
BASIC thinking: Hi Ramtin, you are in the thirteenth season of The Lion’s Den. How does that feel?
Insanely exciting. I still can’t really believe that I was on TV with my company on Monday.
What makes your product, the Zebrastic ice cream, so special?
Our Zebrastic Ice is great because it doesn’t need refrigeration. The customer buys it in the supermarket, freezes it himself at home and no further preparation is necessary. Simply tear open the top of the stick, squeeze out and enjoy.
The best thing about it is: Our Zebrastic Ice does not contain any industrial sugar, consists of pure fruit puree and juice and is therefore vegan, lactose- and gluten-free and contains no additives. So far, our ice is available in the flavors Mango & Passionfruit and Guava & Strawberry.
Zebrastic: The concept behind the ice from The Lion’s Den
How did you come up with the idea and concept of Zebrastic Ice?
It was important to me to develop a product that is well thought out and uses only a few ingredients. In addition, it should do without industrial sugar and unnecessary additives and still taste delicious.
And how did you end up in The Lion’s Den?
At the time, we were actually written to by the production company Noisy Pictures, asking if we were interested in applying for Zebrastic Ice. Of course we didn’t think twice about it and started the application process.
The pitch and the negotiations
What was on your mind just before your pitch?
I was very excited before the pitch, which I hope doesn’t show too much on TV. I was really glad when it was behind me!
How did the subsequent negotiations go?
After the shoot, there were first talks, then the work between his team and mine started straight away, and later the contractual agreements were made.
What has happened to you and your product Zebrastic Eis since the shoot and the participation?
The Zebrastic Ice has had a design makeover since filming and we’ve received a tremendous amount of attention since it aired. We get a lot of positive feedback, which of course makes us very happy!
Zebrastic: So it goes on now
And how does it continue? What are the next steps?
My vision is that Zonama Food will generate eight-figure sales in the next few years and that we will sell our snacks worldwide.
Looking back, how would you rate your experience at The Lion’s Den?
I am very grateful that I got the chance to present myself and my product at “The Lion’s Den”. I learned a lot during that time and look forward to continuing to work with Ralf and his team in the future.
