macOS Big Sur bugs cause problems with external screens
Mac owners using an external monitor have problems on the two most recent versions of macOS Big Sur. For the time being there doesn’t seem to be a solution.

macOS Big Sur screen bug makes monitors unusable
The problems occur on all types of Macs running macOS Big Sur 11.1 and 11.2 released this week. Complaints are now raining on the Apple Support forum, Twitter and Reddit.
These would be two different bugs, both of which throw a spanner in the works when it comes to external screens. With the first error, a USB-C connection no longer recognizes an external monitor, so that a connection is not made. The problem would arise with both HDMI and DisplayPort.
The second problem messes with the resolution of external screens. Monitors with a 4K resolution are recognized as a 1080p screen and therefore show a blurry image. This second problem seems to occur mainly with 16-inch MacBook Pros, but other Mac users have also reported themselves.
Waiting for macOS 11.3
For the time being there is no (temporary) solution to this problem. Also in the beta of macOS 10.13, the two bugs have not yet been resolved. Let’s hope Apple finds a solution soon and adds it to macOS 11.3. Until then, there is nothing else to do than wait and not use an external monitor.
