Google Maps now has split-screen display for Street View in the Netherlands
Viewing Street View images in Google Maps is given a very useful display. In a new version of Maps you can view the images in a split screen view.
Update 11/02/2021: The split-screen view in Google Maps is now available in the Netherlands. We have updated and republished this article.
Street View in split screen
Just take a look at what the area really looks like on Maps with Street View. It is then difficult to see where you are approximately since the map display disappears completely when you have Street View on. Google has now found a solution for this and that is a split-screen display. Since the new editorial view isn’t available yet, we’re sharing the Android Police screenshots below.
As soon as you turn on Street View in Maps, the split-screen view is displayed immediately. The Street View images and the map view are then displayed one below the other, or side by side if you use the phone in landscape mode.
This new view makes it easier to view your position on the map and the Street View view at the same time. The new feature is in version 10.59.1 from Maps but is not yet visible at the editorial office. Google will enable remote viewing for an increasing group of Maps users.
Maps recently also automatically shows the charging stations for electric cars that are closest in the area. In addition, you can now also save your favorite routes and locations in the ‘Go’ tab. Can you already see the split-screen view in Street View in Maps? Would you use this view? Let us know in the comments.
