iOS 16.5 is now available for free download. Apple is releasing the new operating system just a few weeks after releasing a quick update. These are the new functions at a glance.

Apple only released a supplementary security update for the iPhone in early May 2023. After six weeks of beta testing and two release candidates, the latest version of the operating system available: iOS 16.5.

In addition to a new option for the lock screen, the current software update mainly contains improvements and bug fixes. Compared to the previous updates, however, the latest version contains few new features.

For example, the earlier beta versions of iOS 16.5 included, among other things, a new Siri command to start and stop a screen recording. However, this function is not included in the version that has now been released.

The new iPhone update introduces some innovations. For example, iOS 16.5 includes a new Pride Fest lock screen wallpaper. With this, Apple wants to honor the LGBTQ+ community and their culture. The new wallpaper is available to match the new Pride Celebration watchface and a Pride Sport band for the apple watch.

It also fixes an issue where Spotlight may become unresponsive and podcast content in CarPlay fails to load. An error in which “Screen Time” settings cannot be reset or cannot be synchronized across all devices should also no longer occur in the future.

There is a new feature in the Apple News app: the new “Sports” tab is now available there to make it easier to follow games and provide easier access to reports, results and tables. However, this function is not yet available in Germany.

Install iOS 16.5

iOS 16.5 is available for download now. You can install the new system update on all models from the iPhone SE. To do this, go to the device settings under “General” and “Software update”. Then click on “Download and install” and enter your device code.
