Champions League conference in live stream and TV: 1st matchday 2021/22 today

“The Champions!”: It starts again, with the first matchday of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League coming up. The broadcasts of the Champions League games are among the TV highlights of the year and capture millions of viewers in front of the TV screen week after week. This season, football fans have to get used to the live broadcasts of the Champions League on stream and TV. This year there are finally pictures of the premier class on free TV, but also new subscriptions. Find out here where you can watch all the games in the European Cup.

Starting this season, football fans can tune in to all live premier class games via DAZN and “Amazon Prime”. Sky doesn’t show anything anymore. The payment services divide the transmissions of the games among themselves, whereby the largest part of the transmissions lies with DAZN. On the first day of the match there was the top match between FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich on Tuesday in the live stream via Amazon Prime. All other individual games are also available live and in full from the first day of play on DAZN. There you can also tune in to the conference with all parallel games, but scenes from the Bayern game are exclusively available on Amazon.

Amazon Prime will therefore exclusively show the game between FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich on Tuesday from 9 p.m. on matchday 1. At DAZN you can see all other games including matchday conferences live. Among other things, the match between Besiktas Istanbul and Borussia Dortmund will be broadcast exclusively on the sports streaming service on Wednesday. Champions League on free TV and stream: what is being shown?

For Germany this season, FC Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, VfL Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig are on the hunt for the most important trophy in European club football. DAZN and Amazon Prime share the broadcasts of the Champions League games this year. For the first time in years there are also premier class pictures on free TV. ZDF has secured the small package of rights for the highlights. So you can tune in every Wednesday from 11 p.m. at the ZDF sports studio and enjoy all the goals by Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland for free. In addition, the final of the current Champions League season will finally be shown live on free TV.

The online radio broadcasts on Amazon Prime, however, will be canceled this season. For this you can tune into “WDR Event” regularly and watch the games with German participation listen for free.

Champions League on TV: the cost

During the current season, DAZN will broadcast 121 games live, showing a large part of the total of 137 games in full. Amazon holds the rights to the remaining 16 games and shows one game every day. You have the first access right, so you can secure the particularly exciting transmissions. For the first three game days, it is already clear which matches can be seen exclusively on Amazon:

  • 1st matchday: FC Barcelona – FC Bayern (September 14, 9 p.m.)
  • 2nd matchday: Borussia Dortmund – Sporting Lisbon (September 28, 9 p.m.)
  • 3rd matchday: Ajax Amsterdam – Borussia Dortmund (October 19, 9 p.m.)

Sky does not show any Champions League games this season. The costs for Amazon Prime are 69 euros per year or 7.99 euros for a monthly payment. At DAZN, the monthly fee is 14.99 euros or 149.99 euros for a whole year. The highlights at ZDF are free, the costs are accounted for via the broadcasting fee.

Football evenings with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Co. will only be available on pay TV this year. At DAZN, Marco Hagemann and Jan Platte as well as Michael Born and Joachim Hebel can be heard as commentators. Alex Schlueter, Daniel Herzog and Laura Wontorra will moderate the football evenings. The experts at DAZN include Sandro Wagner, Jonas Hummels, Sebastian Kneißl and Ralph Gunesch. Amazon Prime relies on Sebastian Hellmann as moderator, Jonas Friedrich will comment on the Prime games in the Champions League, while Benedikt Höwedes will be heard as co-commentator. With Mario Gomez, Matthias Sammer, Kim Kulig and Wolfgang Stark one could secure further well-known votes as experts.
