Doesn’t Samsung always choose Qualcomm? ‘S23 FE devices get Exynos’
It is rumored that all Samsung Galaxy S23 FE devices will be equipped with Exynos chips. While the already released Galaxy S23 devices made it seem as if we were switching to Qualcomm from now on, the Korean phone maker would now even go for an Exynos worldwide in the Samsung Galaxy S23 Fan Edition.
Galaxy S23 Fan Edition
Where we often see Exynos chips in our Samsung flagships in Europe, it was suddenly different at the beginning of this year: S23 Ultra got a Snapdragon processor. Now Samsung is reversing the roles in the Fan Edition of the S23: not only Europeans will do it with an Exynos in that device: all S23 FEs come off the assembly line with an Exynos chip on the inside.
The news has not yet been confirmed by Samsung: it is a rumor that SamMobile first reported. If it’s true, then many Samsung fans are probably a little less fan of the fan edition: Exynos chips sometimes come with glitches, overheating or, for example, a weakness that apparently isn’t resolved so quickly. Although it does not seem that Samsung will also switch to a worldwide Exynos choice for its flagships, it may not be a problem for the manufacturer’s somewhat cheaper devices to continue to opt for Exynos.

The Fan Edition of S23 is expected to release in Q4 2023, just in time for the holiday season. That would be a bit earlier than we’re used to, because S21’s Fan Edition, for example, came out in January 2022, just a few weeks before Galaxy S22 appeared. The S22 contained an Exynos 2200 chip (in Europe) and the Korean phone maker would also like to use it in the upcoming S23 Fan Edition. The S23 FE would also get a 50 megapixel main camera, a 4,500 mAh battery and a standard device with 128 GB storage (and 256 GB as an upgrade option).
