The sci-fi horror film On Air takes us to 1969 -apkrig
The search for various lesser-known but interesting games has recently become a means for me to escape the fact that the gaming industry is somewhat in decline in terms of news. While wandering the Internet, I also came across the promising upcoming game On Air set in the United States in 1969 during Hurricane Camilla. The protagonist is former CIA agent Ray Smith, who rushes to an important meeting with his informant. He is an employee of the technology company Anchor, which owns the Algol Hotel in the Louisiana swamps.
“After a long search, where do we come from and where are we going, will we be willing to accept the truth?”
Ray is investigating the mysterious disappearances of people, and everything seems to have something to do with this place. However, when he arrives at the meeting place, he falls into a trap. He wakes up in a hotel room and finds himself in mortal danger. He has to get out of here, but it won’t be easy at all. The developers themselves point out the premise: “After a long search for where we come from and where we are going, will we be willing to accept the truth?”
On Air is a first person survival horror movie with sci-fi elements. We will go to the Algol Hotel, the secret of which we must unravel. This place is not what it seems, the authors warn. After all, look at the samples from the game. Ray has to hide from danger, find his informant and find out what happened here. It is said to be a conspiracy of very powerful people.
You will also get a mysterious technology in your hands, with the help of which you will hopefully escape death. Various enemies will face you, with different tactics applied to each of them, depending on the developers. Otherwise, we will look for useful items, solve puzzles and perform optional optional tasks.
It is quite interesting that in 2019 the authors described the plot a little differently. At that time, the main character was supposed to be a bioengineer hurrying to his family. However, due to bad weather, he is forced to spend the night in an old hotel, which seems to be a pleasant place. At the first sight. Of course, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the story changed a little over the years. After all, the game should have been set in the 1980s.
It is an independent title, which is being worked on by the RainStyle studio, which was founded in 2014. It has long specialized in creating videos and special effects, while its authors helped other developers. In 2017, however, the team began working on their own title, On Air, and the authors themselves say that they were inspired by Howard Phillips Lovecraft, Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe and their own fears of childhood.
On Air is powered by Epic’s Unreal Engine 4 technology and, according to the latest video, will also use ray tracing. The game is aimed at PC, Xbox and PlayStation. Given the current situation in the world, the studio does not want to reveal the release date yet, because their plans have grown somewhat. According to them, they are working hard on the game. A demo should be available before the full version is released.
