Google Nest Hub and smart speakers have gotten louder over time
If you have a Google Nest Hub or other Google speakers with the Google Assistant, you may have noticed lately that the volume levels seem a bit higher than they used to be. This seems to be especially true at lower volume settings. The issue seems to affect almost all Nest products, including the Nest Mini, Nest Hub Max, and the Nest Audio.
In any case, several complaints are pouring in on Reddit about the volume of Google’s smart speakers. The volume simply can’t be low enough for many people with a Nest speaker, no matter what they try. Most Google Nest users who previously listened to music at around 5 to 7 percent volume levels claim that the speaker now sounds significantly louder at this volume level. “Even when the volume is at 1%, it sounds louder than when the volume was at 5-7%,” reports 9to5Google.

Google hasn’t yet provided information on how to adjust volume levels on its Nest products. Given the number of complaints, it is clear that the company has made some volume adjustments via a recent software update. Why is unclear and perhaps, after all these complaints, it is better to return to the original volume level.
If you like to listen to music at a low volume before going to bed, you will now have to do without it. Unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do about it for now. Do you also currently suffer from louder music if you have set your Nest device to a low volume? Let us know in the comments.
