Redmi passes Realme with ridiculously fast fast charger
The fast charging race is going wild. After Realme broke the record at the beginning of this year with its 240W fast charger on the Realme GT Neo 5, competitor Redmi is raising the bar again.

Custom Redmi Note 12 with 300W charger
Realme shows a modified Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition on the Chinese Weibo, which is equipped with a 4,100 mAh battery. And that battery is fully charged in 5 minutes, thanks to the new 300W fast charging technology. In the video also posted on Weibo, we can see that the Redmi phone has a peak power of 290W where 280W was the average power consumption for about 2 minutes.

It takes the modified Redmi Note 12 just 82 seconds to charge the battery to 50 percent. A full charge was completed in 4 minutes and 54 seconds. In comparison, the Realme GT Neo 5 can be fully charged in 9 minutes. Interestingly, the USB-C Power Delivery standard itself has a maximum power of 240W.
Xiaomi uses the so-called Double GaN adapter to achieve 300W. The Chinese manufacturer has added “more than 50 built-in safety features”. To ensure that the battery can absorb so much power in such a short time, the company uses more powerful 15C cells. Whether the battery in this Redmi has more life cycles than the average battery, as with the GT Neo 5, we do not yet know.
Battery life
So there is still some concern about the impact on the battery of phones. In the past, for example, Xiaomi had to admit that its 200W charger has a significant negative impact on battery life. For these reasons, Samsung sticks to 45W fast charging for its Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra.
In this article we explain how you can use your battery sparingly. What do you think of the 300 watt fast charger? Can you live with the reduced capacity after two years? Let us know in the comments.
