iPhone 14 Pro much faster than Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

The first tests show that the iPhone 14 Pro is much faster than the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. How big is the difference actually?

Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra at the beginning of this month. The Ultra is the direct competitor of the iPhone 14 Pro (Max). With the S23 Ultra, Samsung has mainly focused on the quality of the camera, so that you can zoom in enormously with the device. The prices of the iPhone 14 Pro and the S23 Ultra do not differ much: the Pro is for sale for € 1,238, the Ultra for 1,399 euros.

Apple has again opted for its own chip with the iPhone 14 Pro Max with the A16 Bionic chip. Samsung has just said goodbye to its own chip and went for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Both chips are very fast on paper, but the most important thing is of course how the chips perform in practice.

This was tested with the benchmark app Geekbench and the results have now been shared. As it turns out, Apple needn’t worry for now, as the iPhone 14 Pro is much faster than the S23 Ultra. How big is this difference?

iPhone 14 Pro more than 20 percent faster

The Geekbench test shows that the iPhone 14 Pro is much faster than the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. In the single core score – where all processor cores are used to perform one task – the iPhone 14 Pro scores 1874. The S23 Ultra only scores 1480 here, making the iPhone no less than 21 percent faster than Samsung’s flagship.

Even if several tasks are performed at the same time, the iPhone 14 Pro emerges as the winner. The multicore score of the iPhone is 5384, compared to a score of 4584 of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. When performing multiple tasks at the same time, the iPhone is therefore 15 percent faster than the Ultra. Both smartphones have a good chip, but the iPhone performs better in comparison.

The result is not surprising, because Samsung has often struggled to keep up with Apple in recent years when it comes to the speed of the chip. The iPhone 13 also outperformed the Samsung Galaxy S22, while the S22 even ran on Samsung’s own chip. That difference is no different now.
