The cyberpunk game Glitchpunk -apkrig is created in Poland

The appearance of games is greatly influenced by current trends and mood in the community of players, who are trying to go opposite large game studios, as well as independent teams or individuals. The smaller the developers and their projects, the more flexible they can react to short-term jokes, which circulate among players for only a few days, and so there are pronounced puns in the database of distribution platforms, the lifespan of which is calculated in hours. At first glance, it might seem that even the independent project Glitchpunk is only riding a wave of criticism, which fell to the account of Cyberpunk 2077 shortly after its release and benefits from the ironic nickname that fans used to play from the CD Project RED. However, the opposite is true and it seems that Glitchpunk is meant quite seriously, regardless of unknown authors and the fully acknowledged use of the GTA 2 concept combined with the mechanisms of the top down action of the Miami Hotline.

Behind the development of Glitchpunk is the Polish studio Dark Lord, which began writing its history around the middle of 2019. Although the first post on the official Facebook account suggests that Dark Lord may have been an environmental group – they shared a video called How Dare You? with shots of people’s interventions in the functioning of nature – but they are really game developers. They talked about their first game for the first time a year ago and started talking about it as Glitchpunk seven months before Cyberpunk 2077 came out. As can be seen from the description of the game on Steam, the main role of the city event will be android, which uses circumventing your own programming.

The Dark Lord promise that in Glitchpunk we will be able to travel between four metropolises, at least one of which has its real model.

As in other cyberpunk games, Glitchpunk addresses the issue of corporate domination, respectively. fights them and promises him brutal processing. We can look forward to a plethora of weapons, wild chases with police officers in ten levels of search, 12 rival gangs with their own storylines and a generally elaborate plot with several endings. However, the inspiration for the mentioned GTA 2 game also permeates the stylization or the ability to listen to the radio while driving, as well as the processing of cities. And yes, we speak in the plural – Dark Lord promise that in Glitchpunk we will be able to travel between four metropolises, at least one of which has its real model. Specifically, the developers chose Krakow and it is likely that other cities will copy well-known places in Poland. Drugs, alcohol and adult topics that we integrate with the cyberpunk genre.

That everything is subject to action and a quick move from place to place not only by cars and motorcycles, but also by trains, trucks or buses, is underlined by the first trailer, which also reveals the game’s publishers. It is Daedalic Entertainment, which adds seriousness to the entire project and suggests that it could be a full-fledged affair. The developers promise to introduce Glitchpunk to the preliminary access program in the second quarter of this year, and it is not yet known how long the game will stay in it. Even so, the developers cannot be denied considerable ambition, and although one might argue that this is basically just a modification of GTA 2, we have nothing against it.
