According to the latest rumors, the iPhone 15 (Plus) will be a lot cheaper than the iPhone 14 (Plus). Why is Apple lowering prices?

Disappointing iPhone 14 Plus sales

The iPhone 14 Pro cannot be dragged on, but the demand for the iPhone 14 Plus is very disappointing. Due to these disappointing sales figures of the iPhone 14 Plus, production of the device came to a virtual standstill in December. In this way, Apple tried to equalize the supply and demand for the iPhone 14 Plus.

The disappointing sales of the iPhone 14 Plus are a possible consequence of (the lack of) changes after the iPhone 13. We previously wrote that the iPhone 14 does not differ much from the iPhone 13 and for a real upgrade you naturally opt for the iPhone 14 Pro. As a result, many people ignored the iPhone 14 (Plus).

New strategy with the iPhone 15 Plus

These poor sales figures of the iPhone 14 Plus now ensure that Apple opts for a new strategy with the iPhone 15 (Plus). To make the smartphone attractive, the iPhone 15 Plus will be cheaper. The iPhone 15 Plus sells for about $100 less than the original price of the iPhone 14 Plus. The device will cost $800 in total.

A logical consequence of a lower price for the iPhone 15 Plus is that the iPhone 15 will also be cheaper. The iPhone 15 would otherwise be sold for the same price as the iPhone 15 Plus. The 6.1-inch version therefore drops in price, so that it appears for $ 700.

Will the iPhone 15 Plus be cancelled?

After the disappointing sales figures of the iPhone 14 Plus, it would make sense not to release the iPhone 15 Plus. After all, the iPhone 14 Plus, just like the iPhone 13 mini, was not a success. So it seems strongly that there is no need for a fourth model of the iPhone.

However, Apple plans the release of a new iPhone years in advance, so the iPhone 15 Plus has probably been planned for a long time as well. It is therefore too late to completely cancel the iPhone 15 Plus production. Apple now comes in the form of a lower price so with a different solution. The fact that the iPhone 15 Plus is becoming cheaper is of course nice, but the question is whether this lower price means there is a need for a fourth iPhone model.
