Mandalorian Pedro Pascal gets lead role in The Last of Us series

HBO’s The Last of Us TV series will have two famous actors in the lead, as Pedro Pascal will play the role of Joel.

The lead roles for HBO’s upcoming The Last of Us series are known. The renowned game franchise will have its own series about main characters Ellie and Joel. The latter will be played by Pedro Pascal, recently (especially with a helmet) seen in The Mandalorian. Ellie will also be played by a relatively well-known actress.

Pedro Pascal will play the role of Joel in HBO’s The Last of Us, Deadline reports. The originally Chilean actor recently played in the wildly popular The Mandalorian. Many Game of Thrones fanatics, on the other hand, know him as Oberyn Martell, also known as the Red Viper.

Speaking of the hit fantasy show, there’s a second talent from the series coming to The Last of Us. The other lead, Ellie, will be played by Bella Ramsey. The young actress played the exceptionally wise Lyanna Mormont in later seasons of Game of Thrones.

It is not yet known what exactly the HBO series will be about. But the fact that Joel and Ellie will take center stage does give a lot away. The renowned, emotional games tell the complete story surrounding the two characters.

Minor spoiler alert for the first The Last of Us: Joel is a seasoned survivor in post-apocalyptic America. He is ordered to take Ellie to a safer area. That turns out to be a gigantic, emotionally and physically demanding journey.

Again, it’s not necessarily a given that the show will follow this storyline. It could be that HBO is telling a completely new story that differs from the games. We’ll know in a year as the show is scheduled for February of 2022.
