The Last of Us series: the first episode will be (almost) a movie
Series The Last of Us will debut soon and the duration of the first episode has been unveiled : it will be 1 hour and 25 minutes. It’s quite long, to the point that it’s almost like a movie.
1 hour and 25 minutes for the first episode
The first episode of the series The Last of Us airs January 15, 2023 on HBO. It will arrive on the same date or the next day in other countries. This will be particularly the case in the United Kingdom where the broadcast will take place on January 16. What about France? Unfortunately, there is no answer at the moment. Indeed, no broadcaster is announced while the program will make its debut in just under three weeks. Are we to understand that the series will not be broadcast at the same time in France?
While waiting for the answer, yesterday there was a statement from Neil Druckmann, the series’ co-creator and the game’s director, regarding the violence. It will be less present in the series, but the one that we will find will be notable. It stated:
We need a certain amount of action, or violence, that we can use for mechanics so you can connect with Joel and get into a state to feel the emotions. We would then really feel like we are connected with this avatar on the screen and see the world through his eyes. But that doesn’t exist in passive media. One of the things I loved hearing from co-creator Craig Mazin and HBO early on was, “Let’s cut out all but the essential violence.” This allowed the violence to have even more of an impact than in the game, because when you stick to showing the threat and see people’s reaction to that threat, it makes it scarier. And when we reveal the Infected and the Clickers, we see what has brought humanity down and why everyone is so scared.
