With the Galaxy A smartphones, Samsung actually has very successful mid-range cell phones in its range. But since this year the series has been weakening and now even a model is to be retired. The change has already been announced by product development.

Samsung Galaxy A74 is no longer coming

Samsung unveiled only two mid-range smartphones this year, the Galaxy A33 (test) and Galaxy A53 (test). The A-series used to be much larger and also included a 7-series model. But due to the many upgrades of the cheaper models, the price of the A33 and A53 has shot up so much that there was no more room for the Galaxy A73 with regard to the Galaxy S22. The smartphone would simply no longer have offered a reasonable price-performance ratio. While it exists and is sold in some countries, it flies under the radar. That’s why Samsung is said to have decided To completely do without the Galaxy A74 in 2023 (Source: Galaxy Club).

In the future, the Galaxy A54 should be the spearhead of mid-range smartphones from Samsung. There should be a little more choice underneath to cover the lower price range, which has been somewhat neglected in recent generations, since the 4G models have been discontinued and the smartphones have suddenly become significantly more expensive. So 2023 will have to show where the journey is going for Samsung in the entry-level and mid-range.

New Samsung smartphones are coming soon

Not only the Galaxy S23 smartphones are just around the corner and should be presented on February 1, 2023, but also the new middle class from Samsung. The presentation is said to take place much earlier in 2023. At least that can be concluded from an early certification of the cell phones. No event has yet been announced for January, so we’re eagerly awaiting what’s in store for us.
