6 reasons to give your child an apple more often
They say it: an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Okay, we dare not promise that, but the fact is that the round fruit is very good for you.
Therefore: six reasons to give your child an apple more often.
Contents
1. Rich in Vitamin C
Apples contain a lot of Vitamin C. This variety has an antioxidant function and protects your body cells against damage. Vitamin C is also necessary for the formation of connective tissue, the absorption of iron and the maintenance of resistance. Very nice now during the snot bubble season.
2. Packed with fiber
Does your child have trouble going to the toilet? Then an apple can do wonders. The many fibers (especially in the peel!) have a positive effect on the intestines. Tip: a raw apple is good for constipation, baked apples work against diarrhea.
3. Durable
At least, if you choose the Pink Lady apple. Not only does it taste delicious, all growers and producers also want it to be produced as sustainably as possible. So sets Pink Lady® Europe is committed to preserving biodiversity in partnership with the League for the Protection of Birds (LPO): France’s leading nature conservation association. The organization is also leading zero waste: 70 to 75 percent of the harvested apples are sold as Pink Lady® or as PinKids quality®. High-quality, but less attractive apples are used to make apple juice or compote. Second-choice apples are then offered for sale under the CRIP’S® brand. And damaged apples are processed into animal feed. In short: at Pink Lady® nothing really goes to waste. You can find more about sustainable production here.
4. Easy to carry in the school bag
Nice, pieces of bell pepper in the shape of hearts and grape skewers in your child’s lunch box, but also a ridiculous amount of work. And you probably don’t always feel like or have time for that in the morning. You throw an apple in the school bag without cutting it and it stays good all day. Do you want something fun with it? Then you just stick a few googly eyes on it. Tell your child to pick them off before he takes a bite of the apple ;).
5. They protect against asthma
Apples are rich in polyphenols. These substances have the ability to clear the airways. As a result, apples can help with respiratory complaints due to house dust, for example.
Also scientifically proven: eating five apples a week can lower the risk of respiratory diseases such as asthma. Subjects who ate more than five apples a week over a five-year period were found to have 13.8 cm larger lungs than those who never ate an apple.
6. Variety endlessly
Apple wedges with cinnamon or gingerbread spices, pieces of apple in yogurt or processed in a winter apple pie: you can vary endlessly with an apple. And do you have a lot of apples left? Then make a delicious applesauce or apple compote. Here you will find more great apple recipes for kids: from chocolate muffins with PinKids apples to Pink Lady biscuits.
But which apple do you choose for your child among the now 5000 apple varieties? Go for the PinKids®!
