Apple will use chips produced by TSMC in the United States
Joe Biden was alongside Tim Cook at TSMC’s US factory in Arizona. Here is whatsaid Apple boss:
Over the past few years, the advances we’ve made with Apple chips have transformed our devices. They’ve unlocked new levels of performance for our users, allowing them to do things they never could have done before. When you think about it, it’s amazing what chip technology can accomplish. Now, thanks to the hard work of so many people, these chips can be proudly stamped Made in America.
I know that a company like Apple could only come from the United States and we are more determined than ever to give back to our great country what it has given us. We will continue to design and develop our core products in the United States, as we always have. We will continue to deepen our investments in the US economy.
Today is just the beginning. Today, we combine the expertise of TSMC with the unparalleled ingenuity of American workers. We invest in a stronger, brighter future, we plant our seed in the Arizona desert. And at Apple, we’re proud to help grow it.
At the same time, Tim Cook published a tweet, specifying in passing that Apple will be the biggest customer of the American factory of TSMC.
Apple silicon unlocks a new level of performance for our users. And soon, many of these chips can be stamped “Made in America.” The opening of TSMC’s plant in Arizona marks a new era of advanced manufacturing in the US — and we are proud to become the site’s largest customer. pic.twitter.com/rBoiEUwZaX

Opening in 2024
The new TSMC factory in Arizona is expected to open in 20242024. Early leaks suggested producing chips with 5nm etching, but it was recently reported that the factory would use the process instead. of 4 nm. This technology is behind the plans of Apple, which plans to move to 3nm in 2023, but the company will no doubt continue to use 4nm and 5nm chips in some of its products for several years to come.
