Sonos will release their own headphones in 2023
Do you already have a set of AirPods Max or are you waiting for Apple to finally release the AirPods Max 2? Soon you may be able to ignore Apple’s headphones, because Sonos wants to come up with their own high-end headphones in 2023.
That Sonos plans to expand to headphones comes as no surprise. Bloomberg already announced in 2019 that Sonos wants to make headphones.
It is rumored to be over-ear headphones. These types of headphones have large earcups that completely enclose your ears so that you are less bothered by ambient noise. The AirPods Max also have these ear cups.
High-end headphones often start around 300-400 euros, but prices quickly add up. Sonos headphones are also expected to be around this price point. But of course it can also be a lot higher. For comparison: the AirPods Max are currently available from Apple for 629 euros.
If Sonos actually starts making headphones, that’s really only good news. More choice for high-end headphones is always nice, but there are more advantages. It also means there will be more competition and you can expect better prices.
