iPhone tips for Spotify
Spotify is wildly popular and the music app has changed quite a bit over the years. The app also has some really cool features that not everyone knows about. That’s why we show the 6 coolest functions of Spotify in these iPhone tips!

1. Pin playlists on Spotify
Have you saved a lot of playlists, making it harder to find your favorite playlist? There is an easy way to pin your favorite playlist(s) to the top of your library. Pinning your playlist will keep it at the top of your library and never lose it again!
- Tap ‘Library’ at the bottom;
- Swipe right on the playlist you want to pin until a pin appears;
- Continue swiping to the right until the pin is no longer transparent.
When you release the playlist you will see that there is now a pin under the name of the playlist. You can pin up to four playlists.
Spotify can automatically add songs to match your playlist. You do this by pressing the ‘Enhance’ button. This button is at the top of the playlist, below its name. Note: this button is not always available. On some playlists, this button has changed to an asterisk icon.
Don’t like the songs? Don’t worry, you can also remove the added numbers. You do this by pressing the ‘Enhance’ button again. Note: This feature only works if your iPhone is connected to the Internet.
3. Overflow numbers – make one long music mix
Some songs start slowly or have a (short) silence at the end. This can sometimes be annoying. Fortunately, Spotify offers the option to make songs flow better. Then there will never be annoying silences again! You enable this in the following way:
- Tap the settings icon at the top right of the home screen (Home);
- Go to ‘Play’;
- Under ‘Overflow numbers’, choose how many seconds the overflow can last (for example, 5).
4. Stop playing specific artist
Do you hate Ed Sheeran’s music? Or do you keep running into another artist on Spotify that you absolutely do not want to listen to? No worries! You can hide an artist, so you will never see (and therefore hear) songs by this artist again. You do this in the following way:
- Tap the magnifying glass, find the artist and go to their Spotify page;
- Tap the three dots next to the follow button;
- Tap “Don’t replay this artist.”
This artist’s artist and songs are now hidden. You can turn it back on at any time by going back to the artist’s Spotify page and undoing the above setting.
5. Look up Spotify Wrapped
Every December you get to see your most listened to songs and artists of the year. Can’t wait any longer until December? We neither! Fortunately, there are several ways to view your Spotify Wrapped now.
Spotify’s website
The first way can be found in Spotify itself. Log in to the Spotify website (not in the app). Then tap on your name at the top right and choose ‘Profile’ in the menu. You will then see your most listened to songs under ‘Top songs of this month’.
Use Receiptify
Would you like to see your complete Spotify Wrapped? You can do this via Receiptify. Choose ‘Log in with Spotify’ and you can choose which Spotify overview you want to see. On this site you can also view your favorite artists, songs and genres of recent times.
You can view this data from the past month, from the last six months or from your total listening time on Spotify. In any case, it’s an excellent prediction for your December Spotify Wrapped!
6. Connect Spotify to Google Maps
Do you often use Google Maps as a navigation app? You can connect Spotify to the app, so you can easily control the music when you’re navigating. You do this in the following way:
Using Spotify in Google Maps:
- Open the Google Maps app;
- Click on your profile at the top right;
- Go to Settings’;
- Choose ‘Navigation’;
- Go to ‘Music Playback App’;
- Link ‘Spotify’ with Google Maps.
