Elon Musk apparently wants to revive the video app Vine
Elon Musk has dismissed Twitter’s board of directors and declared himself sole ruler. The new CEO has also brought on board 50 software engineers from Tesla. Now Musk is apparently even thinking about reviving the video app Vine.
After Elon Musk took over the short message service Twitter, events rolled over. Because immediately after the deal, the richest man in the world fired a large part of the company’s management team. A short time later, Musk also dissolved the board of directors and declared himself sole ruler and CEO.
Now the new Twitter boss is apparently thinking about reviving the video app Vine. Twitter had once bought the TikTok predecessor, but then stamped it out. Like an insider of the open source library axios revealed, initial exploratory talks are already underway internally regarding a comeback from Vine.
Vine: Is Twitter Bringing Back the Short Video App?
It is currently unclear what a revival of the app could look like. One opinion poll by Elon Musk on Twitter, however, resonated. Almost 70 percent of those surveyed said they wanted Vine to make a comeback. Some former Vine influencers also commented favorably on the tweet.

With the short video app, Twitter could in turn compete directly with TikTok. According to reports, however, it should not be easy to bring the platform back.
Will Twitter compete with TikTok?
For example, former Twitter contributor Sara Beykpour, who actively worked on Vine, said the app’s original software was unusable and outdated. On Twitter she wrote:
This code is more than 6 years old. Some of it is 10+. You shouldn’t look there. If you want to revive Vine, you should start over.
some free advice, from someone who worked at Vine and also led the shutdown of Vine.

What is Vine?
Twitter bought Vine in 2012 for around $30 million. Similar to TikTok, users could share short videos on the platform – in this case with a length of up to six seconds. However, due to the app’s relatively low popularity, Twitter scrapped it in 2016.
Rus Yusupov, one of Vine’s co-founders, said the app failed because it wasn’t developed in a timely manner. Accordingly, one would have missed introducing the right functions and making money with the platform.
