Facebook announces the arrival of Reels and other new features for groups
Groups on Facebook will be entitled to several new features, including the Reels that users on Instagram already know. These are vertical videos in the same spirit as TikTok.
The Reels have become quite popular on Instagram and also on Facebook, and now users will also be able to watch and share them in groups on the social network. Like on Instagram, Facebook users will be able to edit a Reel with custom sound, filters and text before sharing it in a group. This is what Facebook noted :
Reels in Groups lets you express your voice in your communities through creative and immersive videos. Imagine members of a makeup-obsessed group sharing their latest techniques and beauty finds with the other members. Group admins and members can also add creative elements such as sound, text overlay, and filters to their videos before sharing to bring their stories to life.
Other novelties will see the light of day. For example, members of a group will be able to share a public event to a story on Instagram. The social network will also allow users to set an “About Me” description to show other members of the group, as well as a flag to let others know you’re open for discussion via private message.
On the other hand, Facebook will propose a new point system to reward those who play an active role in the community. There’s also the “Administrative Assistant,” which will help moderators filter out posts containing information deemed false by third-party fact-checkers.
