“More and more young people are leaving Samsung behind, opting for iPhone”
Dutch young people are increasingly opting for an Apple iPhone, and this is at the expense of, among other things, the choice for Samsung. However, Samsung does not have to be completely sad about the new research figures.
Young people choose iPhone
New research by Telecompaper shows that young people in the Netherlands are more likely to opt for an Apple smartphone. The iPhone continues to gain popularity among the 16-24 age group. The share of the iPhone in that group is 60 percent, in 2018 this was 51 percent. Samsung saw its share in this group drop from 29 percent in 2018 to 23 percent now.
In the age group 24-35, the iPhone is also still the most popular, with a share of 43 compared to 37 percent. Samsung, on the other hand, is more popular in the 35-55 age group, where Samsung has a 46 percent share, compared to 32 percent with Apple with the iPhone. Above the age of 55, Samsung’s share is approximately 53 percent; one in four older people has an iPhone.
The overall share of Samsung is still larger than Apple. In the Netherlands, Samsung has a share of 43 percent, Apple has 35 percent. Apple still had a market share of 30 percent in our country in 2018 and that has now increased. Telecompaper does not make clear in the message which brands are the most loved after Samsung and Apple. The market in this, as always, is very saturated full of brands such as Oppo, Motorola, OnePlus and Xiaomi.
