The PS5 alternative up to 600 euros
A new gaming PC doesn’t always have to cost a fortune. GIGA therefore presents a configuration up to 600 euros that gets the most out of your limited budget. Incidentally, this calculator also represents a worthy alternative to current consoles, which are still difficult to obtain.
We present a configuration that is primarily aimed at price-conscious gamers. For this reason, our gaming PC does not cost more than 600 euros and still offers sufficient performance for most mainstream games. Although the computer does not come close to the performance of a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, it is still a good alternative against the background of ongoing delivery bottlenecks.
It’s difficult to gamble without a monitor – in our purchase guide we present the best models for gamers:
If necessary, individual components can also be replaced with others – depending on what priorities you want to set for your computer. You can also add other components, especially a graphics card, at any time. We refer here primarily to our own experiences and have attached particular importance to selecting high-quality hardware that is also as future-proof as possible. Also note that our selection specially matched in terms of compatibility was, which does not necessarily have to be the case with other components.

processor and graphics card
Of the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G forms the heart of our configuration in many respects. It is a processor that also has an integrated graphics unit. The approximate graphics performance can best be compared with an entry-level model such as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050. An additional GPU was therefore deliberately omitted for cost reasons – but even without a dedicated graphics card you should be able to play most games in Full HD with at least 30 FPS. With less demanding titles, more frames per second should be possible.
Don’t want to do without the graphics card? We present a selection of current models:
memory and hard drive
At the Corsair Vengeance LPX we deliberately opted for a slightly more expensive kit because Ryzen CPUs in particular benefit from the increased clock rate. Since we also didn’t install a dedicated graphics card in the system, it’s all the more important to get the maximum out of the processor. With 16 gigabytes of RAM, you are also well prepared for the coming years. That also applies to them Crucial P2 NVMe SSD in the handy M.2 format. With around one terabyte of free memory, you can easily store several games and your personal files. Eternal loading times are also a thing of the past thanks to the fast PCIe interface.
Mainboard, power supply and Co.
That ASRock B550M HDV is a solidly equipped mainboard in micro-ATX format. It therefore only has a single full PCIe slot (x16), which is not a disadvantage for the configuration shown here. If you want to install a graphics card later, you can still do this without any problems. That EVGA 500 BR 80+ Bronze PSU supplies the necessary power. In contrast to more expensive models, this is not a modular power supply – all cables are therefore firmly connected to the unit and must inevitably be stowed somewhere in the housing.
That’s also a good keyword, because there’s room for all the components in the be quiet! Pure Base 500. This is a classic tower case that offers ample storage space for all (future) components. Since we have dispensed with unnecessary frills such as RGB lighting and the like, the case also has no viewing window and instead relies on additional sound insulation.
By the way, in the following video you can see how we assembled a gaming PC for only 300 euros:
What performance can I expect?
Don’t expect miracles with our gaming PC. It is primarily aimed at all those who mainly mainstream games like World of Warcraft, Valorant or League of Legends. Indie games shouldn’t be a problem either, whereas the computer will quickly reach its limits with graphically intensive AAA titles. Likewise, it would be advisable to ideally limit yourself to Full HD in order to achieve at least 30 FPS or more. The good news, however, is that you can always upgrade to a graphics card, which will increase your performance many times over.
Is your budget bigger? Take a look at our gaming PC up to 1,000 euros:
Putting together a gaming PC on such a limited budget is certainly a challenge. A comparison with a current console such as the PS5 or Xbox Series X is particularly obvious within this price range. And here I want to make one thing immediately clear: when it comes to raw gaming performance, both consoles definitely come out on top. Nevertheless, the configuration presented here absolutely has its right to exist. On the one hand, this is due to the fact that mainstream titles or less graphically intensive indie games run effortlessly on the computer. On the other hand, in contrast to the console, you always have the option of retrofitting individual components individually. Therefore, the configuration was deliberately put together in such a way that it offers “enough room for improvement” for future upgrades. It wasn’t always the cheapest option, but it was definitely the most sensible.
The performance of your computer is not sufficient for current AAA games? Cloud gaming can help here and only costs a fraction of a high-end system:
This is how we selected the components
We conduct intensive research for every article of this type so that we can then pass on the knowledge we have gained to our readers in a compact and, above all, understandable way. Likewise, all listed products are always selected with care and different applications and price segments are taken into account.
I myself have been enthusiastic about video games and the necessary hardware since my childhood. I assembled my first own gaming computer in 2012 and since then numerous others have followed. So over the years I have acquired all the knowledge related to games and (PC) hardware myself – often to the delight of my family or friends. There I am usually the first point of contact when it comes to repairing something or advising you on the purchase of new equipment.
How we test at GIGA and why you trust our judgement we have explained here:
Gaming PCs require all the more care because there are countless possible combinations of the respective hardware. Such a diverse selection is one of the biggest advantages of this platform, but it can also quickly lead to overwhelm. The situation is exacerbated by the fact that all components precisely matched to each other have to be. For this reason, care was taken in each system to ensure that all components such as the processor, the mainboard or the housing fit together perfectly.
