Common problems with an electric bicycle

Front wheel motor makes a rattling sound
Many front wheel motors on an electric bicycle have gears made of plastic. These gears can wear out over time or break off completely. You can hear this by a rattling sound in your front wheel.
It is possible to repair the engines, but in most cases it is still advised to replace a front wheel. These repair costs can run from 300 to 500 euros.
Pedal support is missing
Do you notice that your pedal support is occasionally lost or that the pedal support falters a bit along the way? Then this may be due to a problem in a sensor. With a front wheel motor it is often the rotation sensor that can falter.
It is possible to clean this sensor. You can find the rotation sensor near your bottom bracket. If it is dirty, it may indeed be the case that this is causing the hitch. Do you have a mid-engine? Then there is often more to it than a sensor that is contaminated. Always check whether the bicycle’s plug is properly pressed together. Sometimes this also helps to solve the problem.
Display stutter
Does your display sometimes turn off completely or does your display not work at all? Displays are often easy to remove, due to the theft sensitivity. Do you do this often? Then your display can become a weak spot. Contacts are broken in the long term by disconnecting and connecting.
Do you want to prevent hiccups in your display? Then make sure that the copper-colored dots on the back of your display are clean. Do you see a little filth? Then clean the contact points well with a piece of steel wool or sandpaper. Do this carefully and do not damage the rest of your display!
rattling battery
Is your battery of your electric bicycle attached to the bottom of your luggage carrier and does it rattle while cycling? Then it is possible that your battery is not installed correctly. Fix this by raising one of the attachment points.

Step 1: Pull the battery out of the cradle
Step 2: Loosen 1 of the mounting bolts. An electric bicycle often has 4 of these bolts.
Step 3: Place a kind of ring under the battery sled, between the sled and the frame
Step 4: Reinstall the mounting bolt you loosened in step 2! Sometimes 1 ring is enough, but you may also need several before you notice a difference.
