Belkin is recalling wireless charger due to fire hazard
Although manufacturers have to do everything they can to deliver safe products, that does not always go well. Belkin announced this time that it is recalling wireless chargers that could potentially pose a fire hazard – a voluntary recall has been initiated, Belkin’s warning message stated.
Belkin recall
Belkin has launched a voluntary recall for the Portable Wireless Charger + Stand Special Edition on Thursday, January 14, according to the website of the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA). The charger, with model number WIZ003, can become ‘defective and overheated’ due to a manufacturing defect – this could result in fire and shock to the end user. To date, no injuries or property damage have been reported – to avoid this, Belkin is urging charger users to stop using the charger.
In addition, to avoid potentially dangerous situations, Belkin asks its customers to disconnect the charger from the power adapter. The product, a 10,000 mAh power bank combined with a Qi wireless charger and charging stand, can then be returned to Belkin. Users will receive a full refund after going through the recall process. You will need to have the product at hand for this process. Belkin needs photos of the serial number and model number to complete the process.
59 chargers in the Netherlands
In the Netherlands, 59 chargers of the WIZ003 type would have been sold, the NVWA reports. According to the government agency, the chargers would have been sold between July and October 2020.
