God of War Ragnarok: Will Sony Miss Next Launch Date?
God of War Ragnarök has finally received the long-awaited release date: From November 9, 2022 players should be able to enjoy the continuation of the story about Kratos and Atreus, as Sony recently announced. In this way, the concerns of many fans could be dispelled that the new part of the successful series could be postponed until next year.
But as soon as the initial anticipation has subsided, Sony is apparently faced with a new problem that could jeopardize the date that has just been announced: that trademark. At the United States Patent and Trademark Office is to readthat Sony had already secured the God of War Ragnarok trademark since 2021, when the game was originally scheduled for release.
However, this expired on June 20, 2022. The reasons for this are not given. Trademark disputes can be long and cause serious problems. Some fans therefore fear that there could also be complications with the God of War replenishment that would jeopardize the release.
Sony will do everything possible to create November 9th
In our opinion, however, this is unlikely. There are three reasons for this: Firstly, it is not said that the end of the trademark in the USA would also endanger the start of God of War Ragnarök in this country. Secondly Sony still has time until the target date in November to reapply for the trademark.
This is what awaits us in God of War Ragnarök:
A third point: Sony should also have a grace period within which the trademark protection for God of War Ragnarök can be renewed PCGames. Since Sony was also likely to have realized after the last postponement of the release date that the original time frame no longer fits, it could have been the intention to let the previous trademark expire.
The chances that November 9th is immovable are therefore good. But Sony should act first. Not only to be able to keep the appointment, but also to counter the insecurity of the fans.
