iPad mini no longer charges after iPadOS 15.5 update
Apple released iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 a while back. The software is generally stable, but it causes problems for some iPad mini users. After installing the update, the tablet in some cases no longer charges at all. As a result, a number of people can no longer use their iPad mini.
Although affected users claim to be using an original Apple charger, the iPad has stopped responding at all. Unfortunately, fully restoring the software doesn’t seem to help either. No solution for the bug has been found so far. So users will have to wait for a new software update, which will fix the problem.
Apple acknowledges the iPad mini problems and says itself that “replacing the battery doesn’t help.” That means that it is actually a software problem. Somehow this is good news, because if Apple recognizes a problem, the manufacturer is most likely working on a solution. It is not yet known whether iOS 15.6 fixes the charging bug yet.
More about the mini-tablet
Apple announced a new version of the iPad mini in 2021, featuring an all-new design. This makes the tablet quite similar to the iPad Air – only a bit smaller. The iPad mini is especially interesting for people who power in a compact tablet. Think of people who travel a lot and don’t feel like carrying around a cumbersome laptop or tablet all the time.
Apple is expected to release a new version of the iPad mini in September. We don’t expect any major design changes. Apple may give the tablet an M1 chip, just like the iPad Air and the iPad Pro. The current iPad mini runs on an A14 chip.
