This is how Samsung puts your old smartphone to work
Leaving an old smartphone in a drawer somewhere is not a solution, according to Samsung.
You change smartphones every two, three or four years. Your old device goes to a family member, friend or in the worst case disappears in the drawer. Often those phones still work fine, but they are no longer completely up to date. Samsung has therefore come up with a solution if you do not know what to do with an old smartphone.
Nowadays it is hip and trending for companies to think about environmental issues. Think of Apple omitting the charger and other tech companies that (will) follow. But there are still gains to be made in more areas. For example, Samsung launched an initiative at CES 2021 called Upcycling at Home.
The company has come up with all kinds of smart applications for which you can use an old smartphone. Use the smartphone as a detection device for when the baby starts crying. Or use the old appliance as an alarm clock. Or keep an eye on your pet by using the phone as a light sensor.
In the video below, you get a number of ideas from Samsung to reuse your old smartphone. See it as a source of inspiration. Perhaps there is something in between!
