Google removes ‘Go’ from lightweight app Google Gallery

The Google Gallery Go is an alternative to the Google Photos app. With the Google Gallery Go application you have a lightweight application without unnecessary fuss. Now some changes have been made and we can say goodbye to the addition ‘Go’.

No more Go at Google Gallery

The Google Gallery Go app is part of a series of lightweight applications, which are especially interesting if devices have less powerful specifications. Originally they were part of Android Go, the modified version of Android, but later these apps themselves could also be downloaded from the Google Play Store. By omitting certain functions and options, storage space with the smartphone or tablet could be saved.

It is striking that Google has rolled out an update for the Google Gallery Go app, in which the name has also been changed. The addition ‘Go’ can no longer be seen in the app icon, as has been discovered by colleagues at 9to5Google. Google previously stopped the YouTube Go app. Now the question is whether other Go apps, such as Google Maps Go, will follow. The Google Gallery app itself will not disappear (for now).
