7 percent of readers will buy the Nothing phone
This week the biggest Android news was probably the announcement of the Nothing Phone (1). Reason for us to ask who actually wants to buy the phone. That is a fairly large group: 7 percent click the device in their shopping cart.
Nothing Phone (1)
There are also many people who prefer to wait for the reviews. It’s a nice device to look at, but does it have substance? 36 percent look the cat out of the tree for a while. Still, the majority of the votes in the poll are for the option ‘I will let the Nothing Phone (1) pass me by’: 49 percent will not buy the device. The last option was: ‘I don’t know (yet)’, which 8 percent chose.
7 percent may not sound like a lot, but in a market where many new phones are already appearing and this is also a new brand, 7 percent is not bad at all. The midrange device has clearly made an impression, which will undoubtedly be partly because CEO Carl Pei has long proven himself by founding OnePlus years ago.
Moreover, the specifications are certainly not wrong. We mention a 6.55 inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen, a refresh rate of 120Hz, the Snapdragon 778G Plus, at least 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage and 33W wireless charging. And of course that design: the transparent back and its 900 white LEDs.

Good specs, but there are also drawbacks. robertjan.d puts the finger on the sore spot: “Too few android and security updates,” although not everyone agrees with him. Mark.v69 finds the color of the LEDs particularly objectionable: “If they were RGB LEDs… Then I would have considered it. But it is only white. And I like to have my phone in a case.” Dirk-Jan doesn’t like those LEDs at all, he calls the device an ‘iPhone with Christmas lights’. EricNL also has to think about Christmas: “Nice! A pocket-sized Christmas tree! Furthermore, mediocrity trumps, it represents nothing …”
Spontaneous craving for stewed pears. Led well on Androidworld next week, because then a new AW Poll will be online. Until then!
