1) Share lyrics from Spotify

With most songs you have the option in Spotify to view the lyrics. That feature has been gone for a while, but has been available for quite some time now. Nowadays it is also possible to share part of a song text directly on social media. This is how you do this:

  • Open the Spotify app and play the desired song;
  • Tap the music player at the bottom;
  • Tap ‘Lyrics’ below and then the Share icon;
  • Select the lines you want to share (max. 5) and tap ‘Continue’;
  • Tap the social media app of your choice.

With Facebook and Instagram you can only share the lyrics in a story. If you don’t want that, you can first take a screenshot of the preview and then share it.

2) Adjust audio quality

Number 2 of these iPhone tips for Spotify is about adjusting the audio quality separately for streaming over Wi-Fi or over the cellular network. This can significantly reduce your data usage, as higher audio quality consumes more data. It is also possible to let Spotify choose itself based on the quality of your internet connection. Setup is as follows:

Adjust Spotify audio quality

  1. Go to the ‘Home’ tab and tap the gear icon at the top right;
  2. Tap on ‘Audio quality’;
  3. Select the audio quality under “Stream over Wi-Fi”;
  4. Select the audio quality under ‘Streaming over mobile network’.

At the bottom of ‘Download’ you can also choose the audio quality of your downloads. Make sure that the option ‘Download via mobile’ is switched off if you want to save mobile data.

3) Sync Spotify and Shazam

By default, when you’ve identified a song with Shazam, you have the option to play the song with Apple Music. If you prefer to do this with Spotify, you can also set that. This works as follows:

  • Open Shazam;
  • Tap the gear icon at the top left;
  • Tap behind ‘Spotify’ on ‘Connect’ and then on ‘Open’;
  • Tap “Agree” at the bottom of the new screen.
  • Enable the “Sync Shazams to Spotify” option.

All the songs you now find through Shazam are automatically added to your My Shazam Songs playlist, so you can always easily play them in Spotify.

4) Import a playlist from another music app

Number four of these iPhone tips for Spotify is useful if you often switch from one music service to another. For example, if you already have a great playlist in Apple Music and you want it in Spotify too, you don’t have to create it song by song. It is possible to import the entire list at once.

There are several ways to do this, but the Soundizz website makes it very easy. Create an account on the website and then log in the music apps you want to transfer a playlist on the left side. The only condition is, of course, that the relevant numbers are available on both services.

5) Set the equalizer

Besides the fact that you can set the audio quality (see tip 2), it is also possible to adjust Spotify’s equalizer. Do you want more low or more high, you set it as follows:

  • Go. go to the ‘Home’ tab and tap the gear icon at the top right;
  • Tap “Play” and scroll down;
  • Tap ‘Equalizer’ and enable the ‘Equalizer’ option.

You can now choose from 22 presets, but at the top you can also increase or decrease the different frequencies yourself. In addition, it is also possible to indicate whether your adjustments should also apply to podcasts.

6) Cancel Spotify

We wrap up these iPhone tips for Spotify with a tip that’s not so much pro-Spotify, but no less useful for when you need it. If you prefer to use Apple Music instead of Spotify, you will of course want to cancel Spotify. This is not possible from the app, but you can do this in the following way:

  • In Safari, go to Spotify’s website and log in;
  • Under ‘Your subscription’, tap ‘Cancel Premium’;
  • Tap on ‘Proceed to cancel.
