5x the best unknown beaches in the Netherlands

Do you always go to the same beach with your children as standard? Shame! There are still so many undiscovered gems. And extra tasty: it is a lot quieter than at the well-known hotspots!

1. Schoorl by the sea

For this visit to the beach you have to put your bicycles on the back of the car: the beach of Schoorl can only be reached via a cycle path through the dunes. So you immediately take a beautiful bike ride with you. Also nice: the cycle path starts at the Klimduin in Schoorl, a huge sand mountain of 51 (!!) meters high. After a bike ride of about five kilometers you are on the beautiful quiet beach.

2. Breezand, Women’s Polder

In the Zeeland town of Vrouwenpolder you will find a wide sandy beach where it is quiet all year round: because it extends over 24 kilometers you can always find a quiet spot. This beach has been awarded a blue flag for years, which means that it is also one of the safest beaches in the Netherlands. If you like it so much that you don’t want to go home, you can stay overnight in houses on the beach.

3. Julianadorp by the sea

Four kilometers of white sand beach: what more could you want? If you choose Strandslag Falga or Strandslag Drooghe Weert, you can be sure that you will take the quietest spots. Bring your own food and drinks, as there are no restaurants nearby. As a result, it is wonderfully quiet and you can enjoy the environment to the fullest!

4. Meijendel Beach

This beautiful beach is located between Scheveningen and the Wassenaarse Slag and, just like the beach in Schoorl, can only be reached by foot or bicycle. This ensures that you can enjoy a peaceful stay there. You can park at Farm Meijendel and from there you can walk to the beach in 20 minutes. Please note: there are no facilities here either, so bring your own bams.

5. De Hors, Texel

A bit more difficult to reach, and therefore not surprising that it is quieter: De Hors on Texel. This beach on the southernmost tip of the Wadden Island is an oasis of tranquility. Really worth catching the boat for! Because the sea regularly accumulates sand, small baby dunes are created, which make for a rough beach.
