5 best apps to follow the Tour

Come on, go on, go on! Next week on July 1, the biggest cycling race of the year, the Tour de France, starts. For three weeks we can enjoy the cyclists who compete for stage victories, the mountains classification and of course the yellow jersey. In this article we discuss five apps with which you can follow the Tour de France (even) better.

1. Tour de France 2022

Tour de France 2022 is the official app of the Tour de France. In this app you will find extensive information about each stage, a live tracker with which you can follow the cyclists via GPS, a time schedule, the results and classifications and you will find photos and videos from the Tour. This includes on-board videos, summaries and exclusive interviews with the riders.

Are you also, like Herbert Dijkstra, always interested in the environment of a relevant stage? Even then you can’t believe your luck in this app, because you will find more information about departure cities and other information about the country and region in which the race is currently taking place. 2. Cyclingoo

In the Cyclingoo app you will find very clear information about all major cycling races, and also about the Tour de France. You will find information about the teams, cyclists (with corresponding bib numbers), the classifications, the riders out of the race (abandon) and more information about all stages. For example, you can see the profile of a relevant stage, but you will also find information about the sprint and mountain points to be achieved. After a stage you will see all the results appear. 3. Tour Tracker

Secretly, perhaps the best app to follow the Tour de France is the Tour Tracker app. In addition to the functions mentioned above, you can also put together your own ‘Fantasy team’ in Tour Tracker. You can place your seven favorite cyclists in this team. You can earn points based on their performance in a given round. You can also choose to register your team and participate in an official ranking. The app itself explains in detail how this works and how you can score points.

Besides ‘Fantasy team’ you can also view the classifications from the Tour in Tour Tracker, find information about the riders and about the stages and follow the news about the Tour. View Tour de France

The Tour de France starts on Friday 1 July with a time trial through Copenhagen. In the Netherlands, the NOS has the rights to broadcast the stages live. We will then most likely hear the cycling commentary from short rack expert Joris van den Berg and former ‘top’ cyclist Stef Clement. In addition to the live images on television and in the app, the NOS also comes with an extensive live blog.

In Belgium, the images are broadcast by RTBF and by VRT (Sporza). They also come with news, live broadcasts and a live stream. Jose de Cauwer and Renaat Schotte provide the commentary for Sporza.
