46% prefer to buy Play Store credit with Google Play Points

Almost half of Androidworld readers prefer to buy Play Store credit with their Google Play Points. Google’s ‘stamps’ system is actually already doing well in that way, because that option is already available in the Play Store.

At the editorial office we were a bit jealous of the nice Google T-shirt that you can buy in other countries with your Google Play Points, but we turn out to be quite unique in that. Only 7 percent would also prefer to buy Google merchandise from the points. Physical Google products are somewhat more popular: 14 percent would like to spend the majority of the points on a Nest Mini, Chromecast or Pixel Buds, for example. For 8 percent discount on such physical Google products would be enough.

A large part of the readers just want to buy Play Store credit with it, so that they can buy and use new, paid apps and games again. The points, which have been available in the Netherlands since 2021, are preferred by 9 percent of readers to spend on in-app or in-game items. 2 percent would rather receive a discount on such items. MartineNL, for example, is already busy with her points: “I’m saving for a Telegram premium annual subscription. 😌”

Google Play Points

7 percent say they prefer to buy free apps and games from Play Store points, while only 1 percent would like to receive affiliate rewards for them. There is also little enthusiasm for Google accessories. 2 percent would like to buy a Pixel case or charger for it. Exclusive Pixel wallpapers? Nobody wants that. Finally, there are also many compassionate people: 5 percent would prefer to use the points to make a donation to charity.

Drankorgel thinks the bank account is a better target. “It would be nice if you could have the credit paid out to your bank account. The credit earned through Google Opinion Rewards is only usable for 1 year, after which it expires. It’s a pity that it can’t be deposited into your bank account either. That way it remains a cigar from its own box.” KeesjeNL also missed an option in the answers, because ‘Films’ was not listed.

We are curious which films KeesjeNL would like to buy with the points. Although, we don’t have time to look, we’re going to breed a new AW Poll. Until next week!
