40% believe that Google Assistant almost always understands them

“Hey Google!” HEY Google! HEY CUCKOL!” It’s not always easy to communicate with the Google Assistant. However, our readers seem to be very impressed with how well the Google Assistant understands them. 40 percent say they are almost always well understood by the voice assistant.

Google Assistant

In contrast to Amazon Alexa, you can speak Dutch to the Google Assistant and that turns out to go well in many cases. Although… In addition to that 40 percent, there are also 37 percent who say that Google often misunderstands the command. Although there are also those who think it has gotten better. Markun85 says: “Fortunately it has improved a bit over time. Less frustration haha. But he still seems to really not understand quite a few things.” Stefan.K also notices that: “It really is a day and a night of a difference from how it was in the early days.”

Jolan does not agree with that at all: “Not only the Dutch, but also the English have become rubbish. “Close desk”, he understands “Close this” and wants to stop a random speaker. Takes me an average of 3 tries for each command.” In short, we chatter a bit against that Google Assistant and that is not always heard well.

AW Poll

For 14 percent of the respondents, it is mainly the first contact that is difficult: the assistant does not seem to understand ‘Hey Google’ well. 9 percent probably thinks the assistant is very worthless: with those people, the assistant does not understand them more than they do. GM-Firebird sees that automation commands are going well, but scientific questions are not. “Even a simple command such as playing a certain song via Spotify or Youtube often becomes problematic.” On the other hand, GM-Firebird also asks for it a bit: “I have set a female voice and if she doesn’t understand something I sometimes call her a stupid box and get the answer “I don’t want you to talk to me like that.”
