4 Macs with the M2 chip in 2022, including an entry-level MacBook Pro without Touch Bar or ProMotion display

Apple is due to release four Macs this year that will feature the M2 chip, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The journalist lingers especially on the next entry-level MacBook Pro.

Details on the entry-level MacBook Pro M2

This entry-level MacBook Pro with the M2 chip would not be entitled to a Mini-LED screen. The 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros with the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips are going to be the only ones to have them for now. Apple would therefore remain on an LCD screen.

Also at the screen level, there would not be ProMotion support. This is present on the MacBook Pro M1 Pro and M1 Max, and it allows for a variable display rate of up to 120 Hz. Apple would not offer this on the next entry-level MacBook Pro, which would therefore remain with a 60 Hz display.

Another element concerns the Touch Bar which should simply disappear. High-end models have already abandoned it. It will be replaced by physical keys.

The other three Macs in 2022 expected to have the M2 chip would be a new 24-inch iMac, a new entry-level Mac mini, and a MacBook Air that would get an overall redesign. There is currently no specific release date, except that it will be later this year.
