20 year old Gameboy game should finally hit the market
The Gameboy color game “Infinity” had to wait 20 years for its completion. Thanks to a crowdfunding campaign, the game could actually come onto the market as a physical GBC module.
“Infinity” was developed between 1999 and 2001 by the Affinix Software studio. The Gameboy Color was already on the decline, because Nintendo released its successor, the Gameboy Advance, as early as 2001. Infinity was discontinued and the game was silent for 15 years. In 2016, the former members of the now closed game studio then published an unfinished version of the game online. But it shouldn’t stay that way.
Incube8 Games wants to “Infinity“Now finish with some of the original developers involved. The whole thing is to be financed through a crowdfunding campaign that is scheduled to start on August 18, 2021. Depending on the amount of the contribution, supporters should have the opportunity to receive the finished game either as a download or even as a real module for the Gameboy Color. If enough money is raised that way, the game could still go on sale 20 years after the original end of the project. And that, although the Gameboy Color has not been sold since 2003.
Incube8 Games plans to release more Gameboy games
In addition to “Infinity”, which actually originates from the Gameboy era, Incube8 Games plans to bring two more games to the market for Nintendo’s long-discontinued handheld console series this year. It starts with the shooter game “genesis“, Which is to be released in September as a module for the original Gameboy. The game is limited to 350 copies and is apparently already sold out. Incube8 Games plans to release a new Gameboy Color game with the title “Pine Creek“. The game is to come on the market in both a regular and a collector’s edition with additional goodies.
