2 improvements now available for Gmail and Google Meet

Google has announced a series of improvements to its Workspace apps. You can expect better search results in Gmail and it will be easier to share files during a meeting.

Share files in Google Meet

Since April, Google Meet for Workspace users is integrated directly into Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. At the top you will find a button with the icon of Meet and so you can start a video meeting in a sidebar on the right without having to leave the document in question. You will then see the video feed of your colleagues in a sidebar on the right.

Google is now building on that system and making it easier to immediately send the right document to colleagues from your Meet meeting. If you’re in a document with a Meet meeting in the sidebar, you can now easily share that document with your colleagues so you can edit it together.

To do this, press the blue icon in the middle at the top and then press Share the file in Meet. Your colleagues will then see the link in the Meet chat conversation. You can also present the document to your colleagues from the same button.

Better search in Gmail

This summer it was already known that Gmail will get an improved search function with, among other things filter options. Google is now improving standard search, because Google will also take past searches into account in your mailbox. You will now see results based on previous searches and the emails you opened at the time. Google takes the context into account in order to show more relevant results.

Earlier we also wrote that the old design of Gmail is no longer accessible and that Google is working on a way to track the status of packages from your mailbox.
