1. NRC
Indeed, like the newspaper, which once lived in this – what they call themselves – metropolitan café. At NRC, in the middle of the Witte de Withstaat entertainment street, you can eat burgers, vegan, small and big bites, tasting boards and salads. The cake display case is famous. The children’s menu with dishes such as ‘I don’t like it’ and ‘I’m not hungry’ is unfortunately a thing of the past, but that still makes the grand café a great place to eat with children. In addition, they also regularly hold workshops for children, in which they create a work of art in an hour and a half. You meanwhile with a drink at your table: everyone happy.
2. Supermercado
‘A cocktail bar-restaurant with swinging Latin American cuisine and a street food vibe‘, is how Supermercado describes itself. Is that fun with kids? Well! Because in addition to the children’s menu, they can also easily eat with the rest of the menu, the atmosphere is casual, and they can play wonderfully in the play kitchen while you enjoy a leisurely dinner with your sweetheart.
3. Food halls
On the Kop van Zuid, one of the most beautiful parts of Rotterdam, you will find the Foodhallen. Not to be confused with the Fenix Food Factory, just on the other side of the water on Katendrecht (also a tip, but less suitable for dinner and more for drinks). No hassle about dishes that the children don’t like, because there is something for everyone between the different stalls. Nice: children can stroll around, order and play table tennis.
4. Happy Italy
This tent has locations throughout the country and you will find three in Rotterdam. One on the Bergweg near the center, one next to Pathe de Kuip (ideal after a movie visit) and the newest addition can be found on the Wilhelminapier. You get the most delicious Italian dishes that are affordable (even if you have a big appetite). There is plenty to do for children, there are play corners and they can bake their own pizza during children’s parties.
5. Gusto
What kid doesn’t like pizza? At Gusto you can order them in small and large, but don’t skip the super tasty ice cream. You can also have fun with the extensive wine list.
6. The Bears
In and around Rotterdam you will find this restaurant chain on almost every street corner. The children’s menu does not only consist of fries with applesauce, so there is undoubtedly something delicious for your toddler. And you get a big plate full for a good price. Most locations have a play corner and children always get a bear ice cream cup to take home afterwards.

7. Cathay
Here you have a play paradise, complete with ball pit and bouncy castle. For children up to 12 years there is a reduced children’s buffet – they can easily access the snacks. Need a high chair? If you let us know in advance, it will be ready for you.
8. La Cubanita
At the Oostmolenwerf, just outside the center, you will find La Cubanita. Here you can eat unlimited tapas during the week for less than € 20. For children from 4 to 11 years you pay a tenner. Prefer to go away for the weekend? Then you pay as an adult € 22.50, for your child € 15. Don’t skip the cocktails – you have enough virgin variants for your child.
9. Aloha Bar
The old Tropicana swimming pool has partly been transformed into a bar where you can enjoy lunch, dinner and drinks. And the terrace is perhaps the most beautiful in the Netherlands.
10. Hotel New York
If you take the water taxi from the center in the direction of Katendrecht, you will pass Hotel New York: a hotel/restaurant located in the former head office of the Holland America Line on the banks of the Maas. And well worth it, especially with children. When the weather is nice, they can enjoy themselves in the playground in front of the door at the head of the Wilhelminapier, but even when it rains there is plenty to look at inside. There is even a separate children’s menu.
11. Miss van Zanten
A cozy place where children can have fun for hours with lots of toys while you immerse yourself in the irresistible map. Because whether you fancy a hearty lunch, a healthy juice, a good coffee, a piece of cake or a drink: you will find it here.
