108-megapixel cameras and the return of Google applications

Brand Honor, which belonged to Huawei a year ago, introduced a series of smartphones Honor 50 Pro, Honor 50 a Honor 50 SE. According to the official website HiHonor attract to a 120 Hz display, 108-megapixel cameras, 5G support and fast charging. After almost two years, these are the first Honor smartphones with Google applications.

Honor 50 a Honor 50 Pro

The two higher models Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro differ only in the size of the displays, selfie cameras, battery and charging speed. The Honor 50 OLED display has 6.57 inches, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. The Honor 50 Pro offers a 6.72-inch 120 Hz OLED display with a resolution of 2676 x 1236 pixels.

The rear camera of both models consists of a 108-megapixel primary, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and two 2-megapixel sensors – macro and depth. The difference is in the selfie camera, where in the case of the Honor 50 Pro model, the 32-megapixel primary sensor is complemented by a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor for taking group selfie photos.

The system is in the Android 11 version with the Magic UI 4.2 extension. Thanks to the fact that the Honor brand no longer belongs to Huawei, smartphones are Google certified and thus also Google applications, including the Google Play store. The system is run by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor with an integrated 5G modem. The RAM is 8 GB or 12 GB. The size of the internal non-expandable memory is 128 GB (Honor 50 only) or 256 GB.

The Honor 50 Pro battery has a capacity of 4000 mAh and supports fast charging with a power of up to 100 W. This should charge it to 100% capacity in 25 minutes. In the case of the Honor 50, the capacity is 4300 mAh and charging has a maximum power of 66 W. It charges 70% of the capacity in 20 minutes. Smartphones will be sold in black, crystal, red and green.

The Honor 50 price starts on the Chinese market for a sum of 350 euros. The price of Honor 50 Pro starts at 480 euros. Smartphones should also be sold on the Slovak market, but the launch date and price have not yet been announced.

Honor 50 SE

The lowest model Honor 50 SE has a 6.78-inch 120 Hz display with a resolution of 2388 x 1080 pixels, which is, however, made by older IPS technology. Because of this, it also has a fingerprint sensor in the display than the more expensive models, but in the side button on the side. Selfie camera in the hole of the display has a lower resolution of 16 megapixels.

The rear 108-megapixel camera is virtually identical to higher models. However, it lacks a depth sensor. The main difference is the chipset used, which is Mediatek Dimensity 900 with 5G support. The RAM is 6 GB or 8 GB. The battery capacity is 4000 mAh and the fast charging power is 66 W. In China, the Honor 50 SE will be sold in black, blue and silver for a price starting at 310 euros.

Competition

Honor’s new smartphones will compete in the market with Samsung Galaxy A32 5G, Galaxy A42 5G and Galaxy A52 5G smartphones. Alternatively, Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G or Realme Nazro 30 Pro can be used.
