Zoom takes over German startup Kites
Zoom wants to translate multilingual video meetings live with AI in the future. Researchers from Karlsruhe should help with this.
Zoom takes over the German startup Kites (Karlsruhe Information Technology Solutions) to bring real-time translation to meetings. The translation should make digital collaboration smoother, regardless of location or language, explained Zoom’s head of development, Velchamy Sankarlingam according to notification.
AI-powered real-time translation
Kites was founded in 2015 by two scientists at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. According to their own statements, the founders want to convert the latest scientific findings into practical products.
The researchers focus on methods that use artificial intelligence to automatically process natural and spontaneous language.
The startup currently consists of 12 researchers. You will continue to work in Karlsruhe, but will work together with Zoom’s developers on a multilingual translation tool for meetings.
