Youtuber mows grass with laser (video)
You can of course set up a robotic lawnmower, but that is so old school. What if you attack those blades of grass with really heavy artillery? This YouTuber chose a laser to cut grass. And that all went pretty well. Have knives had their day?
Lawn mowing, but different
Suppose you are all done mowing grass. You think it’s a boring job. je binge watch rather every episode of Star Trek Voyager or, if you’re more into gory fantasy, Game of Thrones. Of course you can buy a robot lawn mower.
But why make it easy when it can be difficult? That is not the path of a real man. A real dude is going to handle this in the most legendary way, of course. Talkative to the end.
And yes, what could be more irresistible than a life-threatening laser beam, with which you show those grass stems who’s boss here. As the maker of this video says: don’t try this at home. But it is funny.
From laser to lawnmower
The YouTuber RCTestflight used a 40 watt laser that actually belongs in a CNC machine. This allows you to cut through a thin sheet of wood in seconds. Grass stems also have little chance against this brutal violence. Some parts printed with a 3D printer, a stepper motor, an Arduino controller and an old camera lens made the construction complete.
It’s all a bit slower than with a lawnmower with blades, but the advantage is that you don’t have to be there while the laser brutally takes care of the intrusive plant kingdom. Or that you have to clean the mower. And the insect that ends up in the laser beam? That was bad luck. That’s the law of the jungle.
