You can turn the new e-scooter Ninebot S Max into a go-kart
No time right now?
Segway-Ninebot has presented a new e-scooter with the Ninebot S Max. The vehicle can be pre-ordered from US $ 849 – and with the appropriate kit it can be converted into a go-kart.
In the summer, Segway, which is now part of the Chinese e-scooter manufacturer Ninebot, sidelined its iconic, but not commercially successful two-wheeled scooter Segway PT after 20 years. Now Segway-Ninebot is launching a new self-balancing e-scooter. The Ninebot S Max can be pre-ordered on the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform and should be delivered from April – but only in the USA and Canada for the time being.

Ninebot S Max: crowdfunding campaign is ongoing
The vehicle costs for Indiegogo pre-orderers currently from $ 849. In the first hours since the campaign was launched, around 100 users have already pre-ordered a Ninebot S Max. In total, a good $ 110,000 was raised. The so-called donation target of $ 5,000, albeit a very low one, has already been significantly exceeded. The crowdfunding campaign is supposed to last 30 days.
The Ninebot S Max is an updated version of the predecessor Ninebot S. Instead of a handlebar attached at knee height, the handlebar of the S Max can be extended to hip height. The e-scooter is started and controlled by shifting your weight – this is made easier by the higher handlebar. At the top there is also a display that shows the speed. Driving with a handlebar at knee height is also possible on request.
E-scooter switches off automatically
The vehicle is designed for a maximum speed of almost 20 kilometers per hour. With its 2,400 watt motor, the Ninebot S Max can travel 38 kilometers. The battery has a capacity of 432 watt hours. If the battery is empty, it has to be charged for around four hours. Other highlights are the integrated LED, the mobile app and safety precautions such as an automatic switch-off if the e-scooter threatens to fall.
What is particularly interesting about the Ninebot S Max is the possibility of converting the scooter into a go-kart. Segway-Ninebot provides a corresponding accessory set for this. After the conversion, the e-scooter go-kart can reach a speed of around 37 kilometers per hour. But the range drops to just 25 kilometers. The Ninebot S Max plus go-kart kit costs $ 1,698.
