You can’t start early enough: yoga. Of course you don’t have to expect your baby to be in a downward facing dog right away, but baby yoga is a good idea! You can do yoga exercises with your little one as early as six weeks.

The benefits at a glance

By planning a yoga moment with your baby, you consciously take time for each other. There is chatting and playing and you will see that your child really likes it. This makes the bond even closer!

Babies are less likely to become tense or irritated after a yoga class. A nice side effect: not only will your baby become zen, so will you!

Your baby becomes nice and supple from yoga exercises. The exercises stimulate mobility.

In a playful way you teach your baby new things about his or her small body. This way they suddenly discover their own toes or they can suddenly do something new after an exercise!

Tips

  • Build up! First repeat each exercise three times. You can slowly build this up to 10 times per exercise.
  • Tell your baby what you are doing and keep doing it throughout the exercises.
  • Move and breathe yourself with each exercise.
  • Look carefully at what your child can handle. So don’t force anything! Do you see fatigue signals? Then you better stop.
  • You can find endless yoga exercises online that you can do with your child.
